What Is Geocaching?

Easy Steps to Geocaching

  1. Register for a free Basic Membership. at geocaching.com
  2. Click "Hide & Seek a Cache."
  3. Enter your postal code and click "search."
  4. Choose any geocache from the list and click on its name.
  5. Enter the coordinates of the geocache into your GPS Device.
  6. Use your GPS device to assist you in finding the hidden geocache.
  7. Sign the logbook and return the geocache to its original location.
  8. Share your geocaching stories and photos online.
  9. Share them with us at geocachingscouts.org.uk to help promote Geocaching for Scouting.

How to Find Your First Geocache

Geocaches can be of any size and can be hidden in locations from urban streets to a large wood. The beginner geocaching scout may have trouble finding his or her first caches.

  1. The first step in locating a geocache is gathering the information from http://www.geocaching.com log into as a member and goto Hide and Seek A Geocache. You can print out what you need or some GPS paperless caching.

  2. Use a GPS input the latitude and longitude of the geocache into the GPS and follow the electronic compass or mapping to the geocache site, and start looking is should be there hidden somewhere. (don''t foget to log your find)
